How to use Thai
language on the Pocket PC
To use Thai
language on a Pocket PC you need a Thai keyboard plugin so that you can
input Thai characters and a Thai font so that you can display the
characters. You can purchase a package from C & N Solutions which includes
keyboard, fonts and dictionaries, or if you want a free solution,
install the demo version of one of LingvoSoft's
Thai-English Dictionaries for the Pocket PC and a Thai keyboard will
automatically be installed on your machine. You can then delete the
dictionary but the keyboard (with 5 second nag screen) will remain on
your machine. A good font to use for Thai language on the Pocket PC is
Tahoma. Just copy the font from your PC's font folder to your Pocket
PC's font folder and you are ready to read and type Thai.
How to install an MDict dictionary
Go to the Octopus Studio
website and download the excellent, free, dictionary viewer software
called MDict. Install it on your Pocket PC. Now download an MDict
dictionary (.mdx extension), such as the one available on this website,
and copy it to your Pocket PC. Run the MDict program and select
Library>Search All. The dictionary should now appear in Library menu
when you tap on it again. Tap the name of dictionary you want and the
dictionary will load and be ready for use.
